156. RICHARD BARTLETT (say 1575–1647)


Richard Bartlett was born say 1575. [2] He died on 25 May 1647 in Newbury. [2]

Richard probably came to Newbury in 1635 or 1637. [2]

Richard was a shoemaker. [3]

Richard's noncupative will was proved on 28 (7) 1647. He mentioned his sons John, Christopher and Richard and his daughter Joan, the wife of William Titcomb. [4]

The birthdates of the children are from Richard's bible. [2]

Children of Richard Bartlett:

i. Joanna Bartlett was born on 26 January 1610. [2] She married William Titcomb. [2] He married second Elizabeth Stevens in 1654. [2]

ii. John Bartlett was born in 1613. [2] He died on 5 February 1678/9. [2] He married Joan Unknown. [2] She died on 13 April 1678 [2]

John Bartlett was a passenger on the John and Mary, arriving 24 January 1633/4. [2] He was a constable and selectman in Newbury. [2]

iii. Thomas Bartlett was born on 22 January 1615. [2] He probably died in England [2]

iv. Richard Bartlett was born on 31 October 1621. [2] He died in 1698. [2] He married Abigail Unknown. [2]

In his will, Richard Bartlett mentions his honored father, late of Newbury. [2]

Richard was a shoemaker, cordwainer, and yeoman. He was deputy to the general court for serveral years. [3]

iv. Christopher Bartlett was born in on 25 February 1623/4. He died on 15 March 1669/70. He married first Mary Unknown. He married second Mary Hoyt.

v. Anne Bartlett was born on 26 February 1625. [2] She probably died in England. [2]
